If you could build a wayback machine and release The Black Crowes' stuff on vinyl in 1973, would it sell?
|
Fri. 3/14/08 4:56pm
Ike:
No. It sells in the modern day entirely due to misplaced and dopey buyers' nostalgia. The people in 1973 HAD to be more intelligent than to fall for the Black Crowes swindle.
|
Fri. 3/14/08 5:01pm

Lee Morgan AND Horace Silver AND Clifford and Max -- seamlessly blended in with all that other great and weird stuff -- THIS is why I listen to WFMU! (I wonder why more FMU program hosts don't play jazz??)
|
Fri. 3/14/08 5:10pm
Curtis:
Thank you for playing Miss Hukkelberg. I am a Hukkelbergy Hound!
|
Fri. 3/14/08 5:11pm
Peter K.:
No, Irwin, no. It is NOT Clifford Brown and the Max Roach Quintet, and though that indeed would make it a sextet, it doesn't because it isn't. It's the Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet. Brown and Roach were the co-leaders. There were three other members (tenor saxophone, piano and bass), for a total of five. Hence "quintet." Trust me on this.
