that Los Relámpagos del Norte track was sweet -- but very short. Great start Doug -- Happy Friday!

Fri. 1/18/08 9:48am From: Stan

Les Amazones de Guinee sure be funkee! Killer, killer cut! This show rules!

Fri. 1/18/08 9:55am From: Steev

Doug -- I can't find 'Guitar Mood' anywhere on the net. Is that the name of the album you played the
Los Relampagos Del Norte track from?

Fri. 1/18/08 10:09am From: Steev

Thank u Doug. Ur the man!

Fri. 1/18/08 10:14am From: Doug

Steev, I snatched that "Guitar Mood" comp from the terrific blog Twilightzone! Go to the following link and search for "Guitar Mood" (it was posted in November '07)

Fri. 1/18/08 10:27am From: Steev

Thank you for the link Doug!

Fri. 1/18/08 10:52am From: Sur

Doug, you know, I love love LOVE your show! But I winced today when I heard you pronounce the name of a certain coastal Colombian city! That's a common mistake made by English-speakers, to say 'kar-tah-hen-ya'. But there is no 'enye' in Cartagena, that's just a regular 'en' in there so it's pronounced 'kar-tah-henna'. Que viva la champeta y que viva Colombia!

Fri. 1/18/08 11:00am From: Steev

I'm Lovin' it -- Jackie McLean

Fri. 1/18/08 11:03am From: Doug

Sur,
I'm sure I make everyone wince at least once per show. I'm so glad yours is out of the way. I am a notorious butcher of languages -- English especially -- but delight in receiving stern corrections from the better informed. So thanks!

Fri. 1/18/08 11:13am From: Cecile

Yay! Johnny Dyani!

"Johnny Dyani, what do you see?"
"I see the rainbow over the bamboo forest!"

Fri. 1/18/08 11:22am From: Paul Sherratt

Ooooof .. Lucinda Williams. You know somewhere out there I'm sure there's a Terry Allen with Lucinda Williams song

Fri. 1/18/08 11:23am From: Cecile

I bought a Webb Pierce album for my dad long ago, and he goes "you can't beat an old shit-kicker." LOL!

Fri. 1/18/08 11:24am From: Brian S

It's raining & just starting to get dark here in the UK though hardly been light all day. What with & a streaming cold then Lucinda;s voice comes on & makes my day that little bit brighter.

Fri. 1/18/08 11:24am From: Sur

Doug, so sorry, I didn't mean to sound stern -- I'm really very sweet, it's just hard to hear that in a typed message! ;-( Let me say once more, I LOVE your show!!! You are the best!

Fri. 1/18/08 11:30am From: Kev

Brian - Your not wrong. Proper down tools moment here in London.
Great show Doug.

Fri. 1/18/08 11:31am From: matt

"Opportunity to Cry" made me want to cry at my desk. What a great tune!

Fri. 1/18/08 11:32am From: Paul Sherratt

" ... opportunities to cry " and THEN along comes Eddie Hinton.

Oh boy.

" Back to Black " is the T. Allen/ L Williams song on Terry's 'Human Remains' cd ( Sugar Hill )

Fri. 1/18/08 11:36am From: Doug

Sur,
No, honestly, I LIKE being corrected. The last thing I wanna do is sound like a knowitall. I appreciate your gentle offering. (I didn't mean to imply that YOU were being stern. Oh no no!)

Fri. 1/18/08 11:43am From: Julie

Oh man, Lucinda Williams followed by Webb Pierce, complete with spoken interlude, followed by Willie Nelson's achingly beautiful "Opportunity to Cry" and all on a sunny Friday morning. Thanks for taking me home for awhile ...

Fri. 1/18/08 11:47am From: Cecile

Can you play Smiley Lewis's "Country Boy"?

Fri. 1/18/08 11:50am From: Wes

John Littlejohn? It gets very little, if any, better than this. This is what Samuel L Jackson wished he could have done in Black Snake Moan
