The Slang Remains the Same
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:23pm Ike:

No, no no no no. Shorty = child!
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:24pm Ike:

But I've heard it used in numerous episodes of "The Wire"!
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:25pm krex:

used to be used for 'kid' alot - more often for a chick now.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:25pm Jonathan:

Nope. Shorty = Your girlfriend. She's usually "shorter" than you are. "Going to the party with my shorty"
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:25pm pfapfap:

So should we not mention urbandictionary.com?
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:26pm Ruff G:

USED to mean child but now means a honey....
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:27pm Duncan:

They definitely used it to mean girl on The Wire.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:27pm Ike:

Damn that long lead time for production of "The Wire"! All the slang is outdated by now! Ummmm and also I'm way behind on the DVDs.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:29pm FD:

no phone access Ken. chat room submission allowed?
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:32pm mouse:

Chat Room Slang Submission:

LUCY (I assume it's spelled this way)

(Jersey City slang?)
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:35pm krex:

hmmm - I remember 'loosies'.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:37pm mouse:

I know, I just figured that if a kid wrote it they'd spell it LUCY.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:38pm CB:

This guy on the phone doesn't know what he's talking about! Shorty is -girlfriend-. There are numerous hit songs on the radio currently who use it in this way, including one where "Shorty" is in the chorus.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:40pm krex:

I've heard 'hoopty' used to mean 'something kewl'. I think that guy was off on his slang.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:40pm FD:

batch submission,

  Wed. 11/14/07 6:41pm Ike:

Clearly, tall women are currently out of style. And because I'm always out of style, I hereby invite all those sadly neglected tall women to go out with me. Rowr.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:41pm TRocks:

BS, KREX, hoopty is a car. It's always been a car.
Wed. 11/14/07 6:41pm Listener Mike in CA.:

  Wed. 11/14/07 6:42pm Willy Voet:

Define: "a hopper" or "tip on out"
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:46pm JH:

"Losing My Religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States, and means losing one's temper or civility, or "flying off the handle". - WIKIPEDIA
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:52pm Listener John:

How about the verb phrase "to Heino it?"

definition: 1. to sing a song (especially a German song) badly and in a generally creepy way; 2. to sing in the manner of the German singer Heino.
  Wed. 11/14/07 6:56pm Tom:

Ha ha, we haven't had a 7SD this good for quite some time
  Wed. 11/14/07 7:11pm Joe:

Quite so
  Thu. 11/15/07 10:51am Erik:
