Mornin', Doug. What was Lincoln for Halloween?

Fri. 11/2/07 9:24am From: Doug

Reprising the costume she wore as a 3-month-old (though not the same outfit) she was a devil.

Where in the world are we going next? From Africa to...

Fri. 11/2/07 9:41am From: Pamela

Doug, speaking of Zimbabwe, I ran across this site fairly recently: http://bob.co.za/index.htm . Funny in a sad sad way. I lived in Zimbabwe in 1989 and it was such a wonderful place then.

Fri. 11/2/07 9:46am From: Doug

Chilling.

Fri. 11/2/07 9:51am From: Pamela

Did you go inside the site? It's NOT really his site.

Fri. 11/2/07 10:02am From: Doug

Not sure what to make of that site. (No, I hadn't gone past the opening page.) None of the criticisms of Mugabe seem to be concerned with his true crimes. It seems to be a kind of parody of Mugabe as a black doofus and not a cruel and vindictive tyrant. The origin of the website is South Africa and I suspect that it is more coming from the racist white perspective of the old Rhodesian ruling class. (This is all based on a 10 second peek whilst I'm trying to cue records, of course!)

Fri. 11/2/07 10:08am From: Pamela

I saw it as effective belittling of a tyrant, and comparing him with other tyrants thus putting him in context. It's just one way to speak out against him - a half serious way.

Fri. 11/2/07 10:32am From: pat

man, Roscoe has a great voice...

Fri. 11/2/07 10:35am From: paul b

Pamela, I think Doug's right I'm afraid - at a quick glance it looks to pretty homophobic too.

Fri. 11/2/07 10:38am From: Scratch Cracker

Nice. I might look further into that Dublin Crawdaddy gig. For a night out if nothing else. He sounded very similar to Fionn Regan. Anyway, about to finish me shift. Thanks again Doug. See ya next week!.
