Live performance by Donny Hue & The Colors

Describing their sound as "pop stirring the cauldron of childhood memory," Donny Hue and the Colors just released their debut, "Folkmote," on Kora Records. Donny Hue is from parts unknown, described on the Kora website as creating"shimmering chamber pop, psychedelic nursery rhymes gone horribly awry, and ghostly, incandescent dreamscapes." The collective Colors, sometimes swelling ranks to more than 10 participants, arrived to play live as a fivesome at WFMU

Live Performance by Luke Wyland of Au

Adding to this day's swirl of psych-sound was Luke Wyland, the creative head of the ensemble known as Au. This multi-instrumentalist from Portland, OR layers acoustic instruments into a swirling landscape of music that is both delicate and bold, influenced as much by Cecil Taylor and Thelonious Monk as he is by Appalachian music. Luke Wyland, in the form of Au, is aided by a rotating cast of musicians on the album and appeared solo on WFMU.
