we missed you last week. I work in assisted living with a large group of caribbeans and they always stop in the kitchen to listen to the calypso music of their youth. It's a very enjoyable hour and you should see the smiles on their faces. Great music!!

Loved the Alyzandra, Going Up The Country... she's my daughter. And if you're curious, the Soul City Survivors can be viewed (and heard at) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SKmKC24eNo
I have been checking out your whole playlist... I wish Southern California had a DJ like you... very cool, eclectic and melliflouous. Keep up the great tunes... and get syndicated in Santa Barbara!

Hi to Irwin, Muriel and your assistant!!!

Muchas gracias for the absolutely fantastic vintage kaiso which you have exposed over the past few years; I always knew that there existed in many places on this earth gems of music from this birthplace of mine — Trinidad. You and Muriel have confirmed in a staggering way my belief.

Here are a few which I'd love to hear — I don't know if Muriel has or can manage to locate them:

Street Cries by Fitzroy Alexander (Lord Melody)
Chicken Chest by Christopher Laidlow (Lord Christo)
My Belief by Winston Bailey (Shadow)
Boldface Tenant by Andrew Hodge (The Hawk)
Spend Your Money Wise by Nap Hepburn
6 for a 9 by The Hawk

Incidentally, a correction: Yes Darling was sung by Tambu the other lead singer with the former Charlie's Roots.

Hope you and Muriel will continue the fantastic job you are doing with vintage kaiso.

And thanks again

Thanks, Neville. I fixed the "Yes Darling" info. Don't know the six requested songs, but all sound intriguing. Muriel is searching through her mildewy, cockroachy basement to see if she has old copies of these. She has one million kaiso records in her bungalow. That's why she sleeps in a backyard tent.

Just listened for the 5th time the Gypsy Girl song by Cruella De Ville. This page is fantastic and now I want to find other long forgotten songs. Keep up the good work. Alan London

HELP!!!!!!! I am looking for an album which contains the song "Weeow I'll let it be you babe" by Louise Lewis. I had it on an album called 60's Houseparty but someone decided I didn't want it anymore. Can anyone help please. Alan London UK

More 4 has just broadcast (13/10/07) an episode of Channel 4's The Tube from 18/03/83 showing a low rent video of Gypsy Girl by Cruella De Ville. Brilliant! I've been trawling the net searching out info on this group. Looks like a CD has been issued in 2007 of their material. How do I get hold of a copy?

Sat. 10/13/07 9:11am From: Irwin Chusid

I don't know of any commercial CD release of CdV material. What I've been featuring is a homemade compilation of their singles transferred from vinyl.

Sun. 10/21/07 4:54am From: Rose Pope

where did you get a copy of "Gypsy Girl"?
I've been looking for one for ages!

There's one now on eBay. If you had included your email address, I would've sent you the link! It'll likely be gone by the time you check here again.
