Curiously, as I was recording this, on the Saturday after it was broadcast, my wife was watching a cricket match in our newly refurbished stadium. St. Vincent and the Grenadines spent 40-million Eastern Caribbean Dollars (worth 40 cents USD) on the stadium so we could have the two warmup matches. Todays match, between Trinidad and the Windward Islands, is a warmup to the warmups. Going to the grocery this morning we had to detour a couple of miles up into the mountains to avoid the entrance to the stadium. Hugo Chaves, President of Venezuela and junior axis of evil buzzed the pitch on his way home. When the actual warmup matches for the World Cup happen I am going to stay home! | |

Curiously, as I was picking the rasins out of the pudding, so to speak, I took special note of "Gin and Coconut water" because last week our occasional gardner came and asked if he could cut some water coconuts from our trees for a party he was having this weeked (probably mixed with the local rum which is a lot cheaper--and harsher--than gin). He even offered to pay us! We told him to help himself as long as he left some coconut water for us because we are too old and fragile to climb the palm trees. It is like Tantalus when we can see the water nuts in the trees but they are out of reach to us Old Fa..ts. | |
