Among her many projects, producer / manager / writer Nili Belkind compiled the new Rough Guide Latin / Arabia cd, exploring some unlikely musical cross-fertilizations. We hear about how and why these musics have come together, and hear selections from the cd. Nili also produced the recent OXFAM-benefit compilation Th!nk Global Bellydance, and we get a sneak peak at the forthcoming follow-up.

Nili is also currently working with a group of Danish world music bands and artists. She introduces the artists and their music. The artists will be in residence in New York next month and performing in collaboration with New York based musicians in a showcase concert at Makor, 35 W 67th Street on Saturday January 20. This concert is presented in conjunction with the Arts Presenters’ Conference (APAP) and with the help of World Music Denmark. Artist bios and info here.
