December 31, 2004: top 20 albums of 2004 countdown

yay! time for a run down of the 20 best albums of 2004. there were TONS of great albums this year and many that nearly made it, as well as many killer e.p.'s, singles, and compilations.

i decided not include any of those (ep''s, singles, comps, reissues) because they are very different - it's seems to me a much harder (and imprerssive) task for a single music making entity to make a full album that is entirely good.

the reason i chopped the list in half is that it was extremely difficult to rank each album, especially when many are so different in style annd purpose. i did, however want to rank some (annd ten is a good number to group things in) as there were a few completely outstanding albums that just blew me away. i hope you like these as much as i do.

some other things i found interesting of the people who made the top albums:

13 of the 20 are not from america
(6 uk, 4 canada, 3 other europe)

11 of 20 are solo performers

9 of 20 were debut albums
(6 in the top 10)
