Candy -- the early Vee Jay gospel stuff is totally different from their 70's pop funk. Some of the most intense records ever made - spine-tingling, uplifting, harrowing tales of sin and redemption, civil rights struggles, martyrdom, etc. All with Pops' rippling guitar sound like some kind of blues harp in African-American heaven.
