Supposedly Kreightoven is on her way and will be joining me in the studio tonight! Yay!

She should trade her Razor scooter in for a pair of rollerblades. Never be late again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm

Hahaha, HyperDose we actually own a Razor scooter... and a few pair of dusty rollerblades - Hahaha!

When Jeffrey visited a couple weeks ago, I told him there's a great record store around the corner. he said, "There is? Thanks for the warning!" Hahaha. True to the song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Austin Rich:

Oh no! I buy a lot of used CDs these days, too! Does that guy only write songs about me?
Avatar 8:07pm
Mr Fab:

that song is an ANTHEM
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Barno in Akron:

Which song is and ANTHEM, Mr Fab?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
Austin Rich:

The cool record store here in town that I was working at closed. I'm pretty sad about it; the owners tried to find a new location, but gave it up, because the cost was more than they could afford. I'm sad that I only got to work three shifts, but I did manage to buy a ton of stuff before they closed.
Avatar 8:09pm

" LPs," of course!

Buick '64 is better.
Clap your hands fella must love David Byrne.
Love track by The skin of my yellow country teeth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah, they were essentially open for four months. The landlord at the place they were renting got "bad vibes" off of the owners, and didn't want to rent to them anymore. (The goathead in the window, and the transflag in the store, I guess was a problem?)

Our city is VERY red. We have these kinds of problems all the time.
  8:16pm
Dean:

The paradox of conservatism: there are these bold ideological principles that have no basis in reality, but push comes to shove, when the rent is due and it gets paid, everything is chill. But then there are the truly devoted who don't really care about the rent.
Avatar 8:17pm
HyperDose:

Love me some Fidlar
Avatar 8:18pm
Mr Fab:

that FIDLAR kinda confirms all the stereotypes of Millennials. I feel sorry for them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah. There's a whole tax angle, too: if you "loose" a tenant, and your space is empty for a while after, you can get a huge write-off. There's incentive to keep spaces empty in this economy.
Avatar 8:19pm
HyperDose:

But we gave you avocado toast so we're not a total waste, Mr Fab

Hi Kreightoven!!!

WHATS UP GUYS!! ORANGE YOU SICK OF ME YET HA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
Austin Rich:

ECC! Yes!
  8:24pm
Dean:

"Lose" a tenant means a tenant voluntarily departs, not by eviction? Berkeley has been full of vacant retail spaces for ages. The rents are too high. I think CA recently enacted a vacancy bill, too. I would hope it means the landowners can't just sit on it.
Avatar 8:24pm
HyperDose:

Pleasantly glitchy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm
Austin Rich:

You can tell your bank your tenant left for any reason, apparently. So you provide some rental records and say they're not around anymore, and you get a write off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm

Kiwi jr. track is fab

Speaking of surf: I just MOMENTS AGO got the new Man... Or Astro-Man? 7" in the mail. I have yet to listen to all of it, but I suspect that it will be great, like all of their stuff.
Avatar 8:34pm

Man... Or Astro-Man are still together?! Well, hello '90s. that's cool.

HyperDose:

You know the beat is good when it starts messing with your equilibrium
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah... every few years or so they put out a single or a record, and tour around. I've seen 'em 20 times now, over the years? They NEVER disappoint.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Barno in Akron:

Who would win a battle of the bands, Man... or Astroman vs Aquabats?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Austin Rich:

I've only seen the Aquabats once, and their stage show is MUCH more elaborate than MOAM. (Though MOAM do some pretty crazy stage stuff... just usually one one or two person.)

I think MOAM would just get back in their craft and fly home, so they can rock out more. They only time I've ever seen them fight is when they had those clone tours.
Avatar 8:37pm
HyperDose:

Oooh that's tough. Doc Rock era Aquabats remain undefeated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Austin Rich:

sorry... usually only one or two per show, I mean...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Austin Rich:

Oh, shit! Run DMC! Hell yeah!

Damn! That is a good show, Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm

I saw Public Enemy in 2010 or so. I'm sure it wasn't the same.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Austin Rich:

I never realized this, as I wouldn't have said that I was a big Beastie Boys fan, but when I got that book they put out a few years ago, and I started reading it, I realized how well I know all their albums. Funny how stuff like that sort of becomes the background radiation of your life.
Avatar 8:48pm
HyperDose:

@Austin The Sounds of Science anthology 2CD set comes with a thick booklet full of cool Beasties factoids. Saw the doc but really want to read the book
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm
Barno in Akron:

The Beasties have definitely played some of the significant soundtrack of my life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Austin Rich:

That book rules. That 2 CD set is pretty good, too! I guess what i realized is that, since their first album, I've always go the new record, listened to it a lot, then put it on the shelf with the rest of my stuff. Like, they just immediately got put into the collection, on the shelf and in my head.
Avatar 8:50pm
Mr Fab:

I REALLY felt that way reading The Beastie Boys book, cuz I'm about their age, and I lived in the same cities, went to the same places they did. I'm even an extra in one of their videos. It was an unexpectedly moving experience, cuz I was kinda reading my own autobiography.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Austin Rich:

Damn, I think you're a little closer than I was, Mr. Fab! I never lived in the same cities... only vicariously through art and stuff.
Avatar 8:51pm
HyperDose:

I'm the same way. The songs are so catchy and easily absorbed into the brain that you can forget about them for a while. Then when you go back and listen it's like the first time all over again. Beasties are special.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
Austin Rich:

I should learn how to play some of their songs. Those ones where they're all playing instruments are pretty excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
Austin Rich:

There's a period of Ween's career where you can put their songs on infinite repeat, and it would take a good 10 minutes before you would notice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm

something about this track, but I can't put my finger on it..

I've said this before, but: Ween is the one band I've seen that was the most like the Grateful Dead, including the parking lot scene, and the bootlegging of live performances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm

Thanks Barno & the eventual DJK!

I wish there had been a parking lot scene when I saw Wesley Willis. A bunch of people trading drawings he made, and tapes of his shows. THAT would be rad.
