@slugluv: I had to look up about The Central awhile back & among the shows they did there ranged from Frank Sinatra, to Pink Floyd to Alice Cooper (another show my older brother saw there). Being two years older than I, he saw shows there pre-Capitol days. All I ever saw at The Central was Planet of the Apes & Mark of the Devil movies :)

Flash was NOT a Yes “imitation band”! It was original Yes guitarist Peter Banks’s band after he left (maybe not the very next band, but the band that got signed.) Actually the perfect example of a band that sounds similar because it was one of the original musicians who had contributed to the development of the original band’s style. Starcastle is all the way at the other end of the spectrum, a band that was created after Yes started selling out big arenas to cop the style and have a shot at the big money.

Sounds right for Lou / Ian. I moved from Garfield to way out in NNJ in '76 so I only saw a handful of shows after 76. Before that I could & often did walk to the Capitol.

@Coach: Ha..my first concert..totally by accident was at Pleasureland Pools in Riverdale,nj (on 23) It was the Turtles.. I was maybe 8 years old. There swimming / picnicking with my parents, and other family when these freaks showed up & started loading gear into the facilities pavallion. Next thing you know, there's the Turtles up on the stage

I met The Dregs Andy West at Springfest 1980 at SUNY New Paltz. Backstage for two days, Harvey Brooks Band, David Crosby & Dave Mason, then day two Garland Jeffreys, Dixie Dregs & Greg Kihn Band. West was really great. Talked music, mostly about his Steinberger headless bass (first time I'd ever seen one).
