It's from 1980, so I suspect that whale sounds may have been employed. I guess it's forgivable as a product of the times, but I would appreciate it if contemporary artists would give cetaceans a break.
P.S. John Surman, very underrated IMHO.

This gamelan based recording bring to my mind how WFMU marketing works. Got my swag last week. One prize I got was volume 3-5 of early recordings from Bali. Of course I immediately had to buy volumes 1 and 2.

Beautiful rendition of Song for Che. But I recently listened again to the ECM late release of the Keith Jarrett trio (w/ Haden & Motian) live in Hamburg '72, which is definitive. No whales were harmed in the making of that record, for sure.
