Just catching up the chat....and bagels. No longer in NYC and to find a real bagel in Mexico city is... well....just give up. When I lived in Brooklyn, I would usually go to the Bagel Hole in Park Slope, more denser like bagels used to be. (brought back a dozen and now in my freezer to share with friends). I thought H&H bagels were too big and "bready."

Hey, hola, @alar! There was a line out the door of the Bagel Hole yesterday morning. (I was on my way to 7th Avenue Donuts.)

Morning SOp!

alanr, agree on H&H. For the most part, NY bagels ain't what they used to be… though admittedly nostalgia is a key component of bagel appreciation.

hyde, by virtue of childhood fressage, Kupels remains a definitive bagel for me.

JeffG, Shelsky's slings a fine bagel but, my god, $$$. Are they dusted with gold? And, wait, I thought NFT was some kind of vegan cream cheese? (If only.)

Been staying with my wife's cousins, which has been lovely EXCEPT for music playing in the house. It's been non-stop Pandora on the Van Morrison channel, which doesn't sound that bad, bit the way it works is it plays about 15 tunes by early 70s singer songwriters, slightly leaning to Van, then the same songs repeat. I never thought I'd say this, but one more play of Wild Night and I'll scream. Gimme Viscosity!!! (Forgive me, hanving general Drummer Stream withdrawal...).

Oh, the gentlemen are talking and the midnight moon is on the riverside,
They're drinking up and walking and it is time for me to slide.
I live in another world where life and death are memorized,
Where the earth is strung with lovers' pearls and all I see are dark eyes.

A cock is crowing far away and another soldier's deep in prayer,
Some mother's child has gone astray, she can't find him anywhere.
But I can hear another drum beating for the dead that rise,
Whom nature's beast fears as they come and all I see are dark eyes.

They tell me to be discreet for all intended purposes,
They tell me revenge is sweet and from where they stand, I'm sure it is.
But I feel nothing for their game where beauty goes unrecognized,
All I feel is heat and flame and all I see are dark eyes.

Oh, the French girl, she's in paradise and a drunken man is at the wheel,
Hunger pays a heavy price to the falling gods of speed and steel.
Oh, time is short and the days are sweet and passion rules the arrow that flies,
A million faces at my feet but all I see are dark eyes.
