I copyedited two books earlier this year by folks in the music biz, both of whom either toured or composed with Ringo in his later years, and both said he was an absolute sweetheart but was definitely all business when business was called for. Quite conscious of how he apportioned his time but generous with it once given.

Rev D, it's less a statue per se, more a plaque with a sort of bas relief of him above it. Just on Matthew Street, down from the site of the Cavern and Eric's.

Tim: grate them into cold water and let them soak. The squeeze dry and dry further by microwaving (I guess -- I have never had one, but I have seen it recommended) or what I do is bake them at 300 for like 10 mins. THEN I mix with like 1/4 onion and a jalapeno or two (diced). Fry in big frying pan in like 2-3 tbsp. veg. oil for 7-10 mins. then flip with a plate to crisp the other side for a similar time.

About twenty five years ago, I had the occasion to see a drum solo, a musical work composed by Xenakis, it was quite impressive , an absolutely non-academic style with lots of breaks and failures, the execution speed was incredible. For the drummer, it was a strong test, mentally and physically.

@Miss G: sorry, my last comment was confusing. I had no time to write (I have forgotten many words!). So I start again. Yes , that Xenakis piece for solo percussion was amazing! I was sitting in the front row, a few feet from the drummer who did'nt stop hiting many types of percussion instruments. Iannis Xenakis wrote two pieces for solo percussion , Psappha in 1975 and Rebonds in 1988 (the one that I saw in concert was Psappha). And percussion instruments were also used a lot in various non solo works from him: Dmaathen, Pléïades, Persephassa, Aïs, Omega, Kassandra, Okho, Komboi...So, contrary to what I have written, the percussive elements in musical works of Xenakis are no exception! It's even one of his trademarks! I wanted, here, to correct my confusion.
