Can you hear the show?

Mr Fab:

Hey all! Spacebrother is beaming this show down to your Earth radios while DJ Rubberband Girl is out and about today.
Avatar 4:01pm
spacebrother:

Apparently you can hear it!
Avatar 4:02pm
Mr Fab:

Loud n clear, sir!
Avatar 4:03pm
Rubberband Girl:

I am here, womanning remotely :)
Avatar 4:05pm
Rubberband Girl:

I am in the food court of a mall in Medford, Oregon.
Avatar 4:06pm
spacebrother:

Hey, RBG! Glad it's running "nominal" as they say in the space biz.
Avatar 4:11pm
Mr Fab:

I was imaging Rubberband Girl would be somewhere a little more exotic than a mall food court. Perhaps the shoppers are all dancing to these tunes, whilst you sip a martini? Lie to me and say yes!
Avatar 4:13pm
spacebrother:

It's a Provocatively Percussive food court.
Avatar 4:13pm
Rubberband Girl:

You're right – I should be more in character! I'm not a good actress, though.
Avatar 4:15pm
Mr Fab:

Project: Pimento were a swell band from San Fran. Excellent theremin-ist. Wonder if they're still around.
Avatar 4:16pm
Rubberband Girl:

They do still play, yes! Lori Carsillo, the singer, has lots of other projects, as well.
Avatar 4:16pm
Rubberband Girl:

I just saw her a few weeks ago perform while I was in SF.
Avatar 4:17pm
Rubberband Girl:

I stan her.
Avatar 4:17pm
HyperDose:

Apologies for my tardiness. I was on a stroll and enjoying the sunny weather. Just in time too! 🌿💨
Avatar 4:18pm
Rubberband Girl:

I brought my own food into the food court – leftover pizza from Eugene, OR.
Avatar 4:18pm
Rubberband Girl:

I am a very glamorous bachelorette.
Avatar 4:19pm
HyperDose:

Clearly RBG plays by her own quirky rules!
Avatar 4:21pm
Rubberband Girl:

I have been a mess lately. But yes, "quirky" sounds cuter! XD
Avatar 4:23pm
Rubberband Girl:

I love this album from The EAO. I don't know if they put out anything else.
Avatar 4:24pm
David in California:

Hello RBG, hope you have a good day in Medford. The closest I've been to there is Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival, which I enjoyed.
Avatar 4:26pm
Rubberband Girl:

Hi David! I am passing through on my way back to Crescent City, my current home. I took my mom to see Bob Dylan last night in Eugene.
Avatar 4:27pm
Rubberband Girl:

There is a Sam Goody in this mall, and they sell CD's (new and used).
Avatar 4:28pm
HyperDose:

@RBG You weren't a mess, Mercury was just in retrograde! 💁🏼‍♀️
Avatar 4:30pm
David in California:

RBG, how was the Dylan concert?
Avatar 4:30pm
Mr Fab:

A mall Sam Goody that sells CDs? Sure you didn't slip thru a time hole? Pick up a VHS rental from Blockbuster while you're there!

Am tracking down Easy Access Orchestra, wasn't familiar with them. Cool stuff.
Avatar 4:30pm
HyperDose:

Sam Goody is still around? Wow. Saw my first Les Paul knockoff there and vowed I'd eventually acquire one. Finally did so last year at the ripe old age of 33. Dreams really do come true!
Avatar 4:32pm
Rubberband Girl:

Last time I was at this Sam Goody I walked out with like a dozen CD's. Acid jazz and electronica from the 90s and even some Yma Sumac (on CD!!!).
Avatar 4:33pm
Rubberband Girl:

Re: Dylan. He sounded really good! So much better than I had anticipated. Not a lot of classics, but a solid show. No encore, but it's incredible he went for an hour and a half.
Avatar 4:34pm
Rubberband Girl:

Being in this part of CA and OR in general feels like a time warp to 20 years ago.
Avatar 4:35pm
David in California:

RBG, thanks! Glad to know Dylan is still playing at 81.
Avatar 4:35pm
HyperDose:

I imagine that's what Seattle feels like
Avatar 4:39pm
Mr Fab:

actually when i visited Seattle, it struck me as being pretty forward-thinking. One of the centers of tech, aerospace, and all that. (this was over 20 years ago)
Avatar 4:39pm
Rubberband Girl:

I work on a commercial radio station in a small, somewhat rural community, and while radio is not what it used to be in major metros, there are a lot of people here that listen to it as their main media.
Avatar 4:41pm
Rubberband Girl:

That is a lot of our demographic, though, too. We play "classics", 50s-90s.
Avatar 4:41pm
HyperDose:

I first heard this Eileen Barton number in the Tom Dowd doc. Lovely tune
Avatar 4:42pm
Rubberband Girl:

I remember when it was the theme song for Exit 57. Does anyone remember that show?
Avatar 4:42pm
HyperDose:

Would you say it was better or worse that Portland, Mr Fab? A mini Silicon Valley would be cool...until the inevitable capitalist implosion
Avatar 4:44pm
Rubberband Girl:

Seattle does seem more like SF to me, culturally. But I haven't spent much time there, mainly this is anecdotal through a friend that lives there, heh.
Avatar 4:44pm
Mr Fab:

I have yet to visit Portland. My impression is Portland seems more like a small town?
Avatar 4:45pm
HyperDose:

I could see Shangri La enjoying this swingin' number. Major tiki vibes
Avatar 4:47pm
Rubberband Girl:

This is a fun album! Discovered it in the KALX library many moons ago...
Avatar 4:47pm
Mr Fab:

Yeah, Montefiori Cocktail are super groovy.
Avatar 4:49pm
Rubberband Girl:

I really enjoyed putting today's mix together, vintage and modern. Lately I've gotten buried so deep into my vinyl collection, had forgotten about a lot of these gems!
Avatar 4:51pm
spacebrother:

Been doing work while listening. Great mix, and I always like any version of "Brazil."
Avatar 4:53pm
Rubberband Girl:

Y'all are real ones, thank you for being here! Gonna go hit Sam Goody in a minute... and maybe hit Foot Locker cos I need some new sneakers 😂
Avatar 4:56pm
HyperDose:

Thanks for the ever so quirky vibes, RBG!
Avatar 4:57pm
Mr Fab:

Ooh, maybe Foot Locker is selling those "Air Jordans" I've heard about!
Avatar 4:57pm
David in California:

Thank you, RBG. I enjoyed the music and appreciated learning what the Dylan concert was like.
Avatar 4:57pm
Rubberband Girl:

lol, Jordans are STILL hot, Fab! Everywhere!!
Avatar 4:58pm
Rubberband Girl:

I actually really want a pair of old-school high tops, like Reebok or LA Gear.
Avatar 4:58pm
Mr Fab:

mucho thankyous to Rubberband Girl and spacebrother for bringing the swank.
Avatar 4:59pm
Rubberband Girl:

Yes, thank you very much, Spacebrother for streaming!!
Avatar 5:00pm
Rubberband Girl:

And thanks for filling in that extra 15 seconds I ended up being short...
Avatar 5:01pm
spacebrother:

@ DJRBG and Fab - You're welcome!
