Jackie: That's why I loathe Ticketmaster, but the band gets what their contract calls for, the rest goes to the promoter & others in the chain. Even small venues have ridiculous prices. Not that I'm interested in this show but I looked at a Bob Seger TRIBUTE band show at a small venue..by comparison tix range from $59. down to $32 FOR A TRIBUTE BAND. Sadly the "what the market will bear" concept has been applied to concerts for quite some time now & IMO it sucks. Locks real fans with limited means (like me) out of many shows. Did you see the McCartney prices? ;(

Avatar Wake Supporter Marathon 2024 7:02am

@Danny: great for a small venue., but to play devil's advocate here for a moment, how many people listen to WFMU or watch public tv and never "donate" a cent. If the venue can handle paying the artists what they are contracted to pay them regardless of attendance, that's a risk they take with each show. I managed several local bands in the early 90's. I did everything with contracts that in many cases were reluctantly signed by clubs & bars and I who often still tried to stiff us out of the agreed upon payment. (we're talking less than $200 in many cases)
