The first Pizzatown in NJ holds a long history in our family. Our grandparents would bring us to the East Paterson [now Elmwood Park] location soon after the shop originated. For a long time the front of the pizza box contained a full-length food review from the Paterson MORNING CALL newspaper circa 1959. During the 1970s and 80s three Pizzatown locations flourished in North Jersey. The owner was a client of my Dad, who sold life insurance. Their Calzone remains unique in the industry.

As Dylan imitators, Mouse and the Traps were the best. They were what you'd have if Dylan fronted a (really good) garage band.

DG:

Preston's musical career goes back a long way. He played the young W.C. Handy in the movie "St. Louis Blues" (haven't seen it) & appeared on Nat King Cole's (who played Handy in the movie) TV show at 11 (I assume that clip's online somewhere). As for "...Shadows" (the vampire mockumentary)---yes, try to see the movie first, which is great. The series is a different set of vampires (& is set in Staten Island! instead of New Zealand) but the first 2 seasons or so are better, & it makes more sense to watch it from the beginning. Berry & the other people are hysterical...and it's been renewed for a 4th season.

Wow, I didn't realize that Mr. Mouse had other Dylan-ish tracks....of course, like many here (I assume) I just know "A Public Execution" from my Nuggets collection (the original double album, on Sire).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

That said, there's a 1978 SRV album out there with LouAnn Barton that's really tight.

i think Mouse was pretty diverse - but, totally under the spell of his Dylan side.

I cannot tell you how well that 500 songs podcast has helped put a lot of music in perspective. Having it be a timeline just worked for me. This Ray Charles is a good example. And I didn't know that Ashford and Simpson wrote for him. Damn.

The essence of the Thunderbirds was distilled in Kim Wilson's lascivious laugh in "She's Tuff."

Yeah interesting in that GarageRawk might in one sense be what Rawk would be without Dylan & Rawk becoming 'serious' or 'Art'. & then there's Mouse&Traps... So that's not entirely it... Dylan Going Electric & ticking people off on purpose was in one sense the most Punk thing ever... Garage riffed on the Class theme a lot - & that jibes with Dylan as 'Protest Singer'... A lot of what we now call 'Garage' is from the later 1960s anyhow - which is odd, really. As they say - it's the precious & anointed space between FratRawk like 'LouieLouie' & everything getting Heavy & Serious & Arty...
