According to wikipedia, many species of starling "search for prey such as grubs by "open-bill probing", that is, forcefully opening the bill after inserting it into a crevice, thus expanding the hole and exposing the prey; this behaviour is referred to by the German verb *zirkeln*." Now I know what to call my behavior with a bag of potato chips.

Peter K.:

Stork surprisingly left out a salient detail about Trio Beyond: It was conceived as a tribute to the Tony Williams Lifetime, which was the source of its entire repertoire. It wasn't just that this one concert was in memory of Williams; the group itself was, and specifically of that pioneering fusion group, which also included John McLaughlin on guitar and Larry Young on organ (and later, briefly, Jack Bruce on bass). It's just a coincidence that both trios had a John on guitar and a Larry on keyboards!

Thank you, Stork, and clubgoers all. This otherwise fucked up year, the Stork Club has made my world a more tuneful, less isolated, and more pleasurable place. I look forward to it every week.

Meyer is new to me as well - though Andi Haberl of Notwist fame is an old fave. Great drummer.

One last heartfelt MWAH! before heading for the exits. For 2021 we give a "feh." Let's hope for a fainter "oy" in '22. Shalom.
