@Dale, I was going to mention that Incredible Hulk episode. Didn't Spielberg get really mad about that? I believe it was common practice at the time, which seems more or less unthinkable now.

Brian Eno's Windows 95 startup sound was great. (Didn't Kenny G play that over and over for 45 minutes once?) Maybe he could do something for the EAS.

Eno, that is, not Kenny G. If Kenny G did the EAS, it would just be monks farting.

Saw Ghost @ Terrastock V (2002 - !) - the intelligentsia enthused amongst themselves over the Guitarist's clean yet psychedelic tone being John Cippollini-like. @ the end, Ghost did an excellent song about Hiroshima. As we applauded - they told all of us (U.S. Americans) not to...

The EAS sound has ID data in it though, right? Reminds me of the old cassette drives for BASIC computers in the 1980s; write a program, save it to cassette, and then pop the tape into a player & crank that sucker. Similar sound.

So, always wondered if [ahem] "somebody" were to make a sound-art piece using those tones & then broadcast the results, would it be violating some FCC policy. ahem.

I keep coming back to Directors & Writers being different animals. Directors too often think they don't need Writers. Spielberg of course a major progenitor of the Blockbuster as we now know it. On the whole, a negative imho.

Technically a Directory has some story they find the writer, they get an image in mind and then maybe have to re-write to fit. Depending on how funding structure works and the conversations about it all things get weird - enter the creator economy
