Hi ironybread! Listening while grilling up some grub. (grubs again? grumble grumble...)

What’s up, Mr I to tha B! Def an underrated Human League rekkid there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
ironybread:

Hiya Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Rich in Washington:

this show's sending me back to high school.
In my underwear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Rich in Washington:

that last comment stuck en route for 20 minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm
Ike:

Relatable @Rich. My comments often get stuck in traffic going through the Holland Tunnel or the Cortlandt Tubes or in a sack of potatoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Rich in Washington:

my hopes were dashed that Baltimores might've been the mystery band I've been looking for for decades. Some acappela group covered The Units' High Pressure Days and it's not The Bobs. But who?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Rich in Washington:

@Ike: My problem is I'm running to my computer from the kitchen while cooking and keep forgetting to send the comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
ironybread:

Hi Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
ironybread:

Rich - no idea about "High Pressure Days", now I want to hear it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
chresti:

Ha Rich! Same here Ike, in general I've noticed a drop in commenter traffic as more gabbers are going outside or to work as it was pre-pandemic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
Derek Westerholm:

This is a good point about driving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
ironybread:

Hi Derek! Let's all drive with one tire missing today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Derek Westerholm:

Hi there Irony... Loving this, ahhh... Good 'ol Vince & Co.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
Zipperhead7:

Now THAT was a slick segue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Ike:

Oh really @chresti? I didn’t mean that literally, I was being absurd and whimsical. Real reasons are much like Rich’s (sometimes with cooking oil or flour all over my paws). Not actually commuting lately, still stuck doing freelance from home and miss having an office.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Derek Westerholm:

Babs reminded me she was playing this just the other day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
chresti:

I was referring to less listeners piping in gradually this year, nothing to do with cooking oil, maybe it is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
ironybread:

I blame apple cider vinegar. Half the buyers are compelled to cook with it, half the buyers decide to clean the bathroom with it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm

I add apple cider vinegar to my tea. White vinegar for cleaning/descaling

Mr Fab:

Oh! how I love that Groove Armada classic, tho I’ve always been confused as to why they would name it “At the River” when the lyrics re: sand dunes, salty air concern the beach by the ocean. Not rivers. Fact Checking the ‘90s Lounge-Core!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Zipperhead7:

Yeah, I just bought that Groove Armada track from Amazon. They really go out of their way to make it complicated to download, though. Where do you all buy digital tracks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Derek Westerholm:

I am a fan of Apple Cider vinegar, thanks for reminding me, gonna have a little bit now...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
ironybread:

I try to buy digital tracks only from Bandcamp. If at all possible I avoid Amazon and Apple - they're designed to make it as hard as possible for you to separate the tracks you download from their proprietary playback systems
Avatar 2:36pm
Mr Fab:

Zipperhead, when I first started buying tracks from Amazon it was a bit of a procedure, but it got much simpler, and I’m not sure if it’s because I knew what to do and got better it, or it just remembered my passwords..?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
chresti:

Same, although I missed bandcamp Friday because broke. If it's not on bandcamp, I look for it on discogs.
Avatar 2:38pm
Mr Fab:

Bandcamp is great, but you’re not going to find everything there.

Just don’t use iTunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
chresti:

I think the last thing I downloaded was Party Of One
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
chresti:

* for Baby Doll
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Zipperhead7:

Now with Amazon you can hammer the hell out of the "download" button after purchase and nothing happens. You have to scroll alphabetically through the whole damned collection and then download. Really frustrating. As our deejay notes, they really want to lock you into their proprietary systems. iTunes is awful. Hate hate hate . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
chresti:

*then I upload it on the desktop at work and blast it through the speakers I have plugged in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Rich in Washington:

@Mr. Fab @2;36: It did indeed used to be a super onerous process, downloading purchases. Several times I would have to contact someone and they'd have to directly send me the downloads. I think they didn't have their shit together, especially when Chrome was fairly new to the scene and even worse if you were on a Mac, if memory serves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
chresti:

someone hacked my itunes back in 2008 or something, I noticed some purchases I hadn't made
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Rich in Washington:

remember when Apple made all of us get the new U2 album? Shudder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
chresti:

maybe that was it, Rich, bastids
Avatar 2:47pm
Mr Fab:

Chresti: was it a U2 album? That wasn’t a hack, unfortunately- we all got stuck with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Rich in Washington:

I love Bandcamp, but yeah, it's sometimes limited. But I think I've easily spent several times more in 2020/2021 than I have at brick-and-mortar record stores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
ironybread:

Just making explicit what we all knew already by that point, which was that U2 product is just as disposable as an afterdinner mint or courtesy floor mat from Jiffy Lube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
chresti:

Haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm
Ike:

I prefer raspberry vinegar from TJ’s (“with the ‘mother’”). I put it in seltzer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm
ironybread:

Hey, there's a thought - I've got a hole in my driver's side floor mat. I also bought an Anita Bryant LP recently for $0.99. Problem solved
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
chresti:

I add tart cherry juice to it, Ike, add that to seltzer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
chresti:

My first car had a hole in the floor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Rich in Washington:

this is the best way to experience Led Zeppelin

There's a Nichols & May doc on HBO Max and by gum, I'm going to watch it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
ironybread:

Hi Milkies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
Zipperhead7:

Always had a major crush on Elaine May after seeing her in "A New Leaf," though she disavowed the film
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
chresti:

Nice smoky voice, Zip

Thanks ironybread
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Rich in Washington:

groovy grooves, ironybread! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm

Thanks for listening o puzzled ones!

Gauze Zepplin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
Derek Westerholm:

I've found Bandcamp to be my go-to lately. It's pleasing to give money in fair proportion to the artists. Amazon et. al give artists nothing, really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks Ironybread!
