Quite enjoying the Canada talk here...

YES! We met our fundraising goal. In fact we made our goal even before the official ending, October 31. Great, great job everybody. We can now continue with our splendiferous programming.

Yes, such great news, so happy for making the goal!

Oh, wait, you said "continue with" not "resume", haha... Yes, I get it now... My tongue-in-cheek response now just looks like I'm being a jerk when I re-read this all...

You don't seem like a jerk Derek :)
I would comment more but I've been trying to figure out why I get kicked offline so much. I hate missing part of the show.
But when I do, WFMU's archives are awesome!

Hi Derek hello hello!

Mr Fab:

Until now, I had no idea that “protest-glam” was a genre.

Jan Turkenburg:

Hi everyone!
  4:02pm
Cheree July:

The guy who wrote Queens of Noise for the Runaways!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
Derek Westerholm:

Hi Jan! Yeah, Fab, agreed... I found that Glammy protest song fascinating!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Derek Westerholm:

Oh these stories are great! My mom's side of the family were from Winnipeg (Dauphin first, small farm.) Around the turn of the century the 'Peg was Canada's biggest city and rivalled Chicago in terms of development.
  4:08pm
Cheree July:

WHAT?! Who would a torrid affair with a nerdy looking guy like Rupert Holmes, the guy who wrote the Pina Colada song & the infamous Timothy by a band from where I grew up in PA, the Buoys?! I almost spit out my coffee over that one☕
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Derek Westerholm:

Hmm... Maybe I'm wrong about it being the biggest city at one point? I thought it had been, but maybe I misread or remembered incorrectly...
Avatar 4:10pm
Mr Fab:

We’ll Cheree, judging by the Janis-Joplin-being-crushed-by-a-steamroller vocals of that chick, she could possible be a bit mentally, er, unusual..
Avatar 4:10pm
Dolor-X:

The female voice singing “We made love through the night!!!!” is hotter than a branding iron and seared into my consciousness as such.
Avatar 4:12pm
Dolor-X:

Torrid…Rupert Holmes!
  4:12pm
Cheree July:

Yeah, I 💯agree with that Mr. Fab

Cheree July:

Dolor-X EWWW! Do you even know what the song Timothy by the Buoys is really about? Because I grew up in Northeastern PA, I'm stuck explaining what that goddamned song is about.😵😖😦
Avatar 4:17pm
Dolor-X:

No, I don’t! And I meant “hot” as in painful. I guess I should have just typed that!
I’m guessing it’s about something horrifically criminal.
  4:21pm
Cheree July:

Ummm. Yeah. You know what happened in the movie Alive or the Rene Cardova movie that Alive was remake of? Yeah, that's what it's about, except replace cannibal mountain climbers with cannibal coal miners.😲😷😱
Avatar 4:24pm
Dolor-X:

I’ll Google it. Just popped in and getting my wires crossed already. I did not think Rupert Holmes was torrid.
Avatar 4:24pm
Debbie Davenport:

I just looked for a copy of Angelo & Eighteen. Nothing on Discogs and opening bid for the one copy for sale on ebay is $249 dollars! Damn.
  4:27pm
Cheree July:

Me neither, Dolor-X

In late, hey glitterati
Avatar 4:33pm
Mr Fab:

Very pleasantly surprised to “Rubber Gun Show” - “ The Humours of Lewis Furey” is an overlooked glam/‘70s rock gem. And you can get it cheap cuz it gets misfiled into the Comedy section.
Avatar 4:34pm
Debbie Davenport:

Nice!
Avatar 4:34pm
Dolor-X:

Late here too, @Aitch. Looking at the playlist I regret that!
  4:42pm
Cheree July:

Ohhh, this is the Nick Gilder version of Roxy Roller, not the Bryan Adams one.
  4:48pm
Cheree July:

I'm half-Polish. Who said what about Polish ppl?
Avatar 4:52pm
Dolor-X:

(Our guest used the “Polack” word, Don gently corrected.)
Avatar 4:54pm
Dolor-X:

There needs to be a whole separate Robert Dayton interview!
Avatar 4:55pm

Not a slur, a name: Ron and Natalie Pollock check them out on you tube
Avatar 4:55pm

I missed the April Wine, will have to return to the archives.

Much thanks to Robert! Great work, Kitten. This show was “savage!” as Lewis Furey might say.
