Jeremy:

Hi Devon and Scott! Thank you for this fantastic talk and great playlist! It's wonderful to understand these beloved bands in the context of the Birmingham/Midlands scene, and in relation to their work in film. Positive airwaves indeedy!

Someone call Don Felder! If anyone can get to the bottom of this Heavy Metal quandary, it’s Felder.

get in here, Warwick!

ultradamno:

Breaking Glass was pretty high profile wavesploitation film at the time. I think Night Flight showed it a lot.

Glistener MW:

I watched both Xanadu and The Apple in 35mm at a rep cinema a couple of summers ago, and can happily report that they’re both simultaneously wonderful and terrible in equal measure. 🛼 🍎

No bobob, it's the UK Woodbine that was on Domino in the late 90s and aughts

Devon E. Levins:

Hazel O'Connor's Breaking Glass was on my "When An Actor Sings" 2-CD premium a few years ago

Diane Lane would be her competition for that, with Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains...and Times Square, Trini Alvarado and Robin Johnson

An extended discussion with Scott can be heard on The Morricone Island Interviews Podcast which should post shortly

Though the language in Alvarado and Johnson's big song in that hasn't aged well.

Androu B.:

Seems like Station Manager Ken must have made an exception for Devon on playing the (forbidden) Heavy Metal soundtrack.
  8:56pm
norm:

what was that classical guitar piece you played in the beginning of the show? (i think it might be your theme song?)
  8:59pm
Androu B.:

I've had the Breaking Glass soundtrack on cassette for ages now. One of my favorite cult ilms of the 80's.

Jeremy:

I first heard Hazel O'Connor as a young fella through her cover of Lou Reed's Men of Good Fortune, which I got as a flexidisc included in the short-lived magazine Flexipop!
