Favoriting June 26, 2021: Chad Taylor (b. 1973) is a composer, educator, percussionist and scholar who is a co-founder of the Chicago Underground ensembles.
Originally from Tempe, AZ, Chad grew up in Chicago where he started performing professionally at the age of 15 Chad has performed with Fred Anderson, Derek Bailey, Doug Carn, Cooper-Moore, Pharoah Sanders, Marc Ribot, Peter Brotzmann, Malachi Favors, Roscoe Mitchell, and many others. Chad leads his own bands the Chad Taylor Trio and also Circle down whose debut recording was given a 5 star review by All music:

It was a weird one, a dance show in a museum setting. I'm small, so I have to be strategic. But I'm also white, so I was repeatedly told to get the fuck away. So I didn't see much of the show. A show by artists I've been following for years. I don't know whether they endorse that. I might ask. But I won't: I know I'm no longer welcome. To top it off I was then kicked off a bus in pouring rain by some drunk Russian guys. Great day

fred in France, I was thinking that "The Secret Escapades of Velvet Anderson" refers to Fred Anderson, tenor sax player who ran the Velvet Lounge in Chicago for many years.

Your escapade to the dance show and back sounds like a major drag. I've had some similar experiences but not all piled into one day.

Saddened to learn of the passing of the wonderful Frederic Rzewski. Saw him perform, five years ago here in Pittsburgh. He did the full-length work "The People United Will Never Be Defeated" on an upright piano located on the second floor dining area of a local fish market. It was unforgettable.

Oh yes. These Sun Ship shows. I witnessed DJ Dave turn around to the crowd and do a full 180 'shusssssh' motion to the talkers behind him. It was a heroic move that i will never forget.
