Both "King of the Nighttime World" and "Escape" were primarily written by Kim Fowley. He then "sold" then to Kiss and Alice Cooper, respectively, and let them rewrite some parts and take a piece of the songwriting. He knew that a 1/3 of a major success would be a hell of a lot better than 100% of something that didn't sell at all.
