Happy birthday, Graham Gouldman! He’s also 75 today.

MOM WHIG:

Took me a bit to get here - all good now - OP Great to see all of you here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm

I'm one of the nuts who prefers the Mockingbirds to 10CC

DennisK:

Thanks for tipping me to the extended OP gig, Mom
Avatar 6:08pm
MOM WHIG:

Is there a play list somewhere?
  6:08pm
uptown jen:

Eric, I adore them both. The Mockingbirds are sadly overlooked.
Avatar 6:14pm
WLSClark:

Mom, that's always the issue of going back and froth in the OP and CTTS shows. You have to move from one list to another and not always there. Great music, but wish WFMU could figure out something to make the transition easier for us not so good at this stuff.
Avatar 6:16pm
MOM WHIG:

AHHHH here comes a play list
Avatar 6:18pm
MOM WHIG:

Thanks OP

Same, MOM.

Gerry from Miami:

"No Milk Today" just might be the Hermits' best song.
Avatar 6:43pm
MOM WHIG:

Gerry - I agree with you on that
  6:47pm
Gerry from Miami:

And all these super Graham Gouldman tunes! Wonderful!
  6:48pm
dangie:

With all of his MANY musical accomplishments, G.G. also produced my favorite Ramones LP- "Pleasant Dreams". A true punk pop masterpiece!!
  6:49pm
Gerry from Miami:

OP, is that actually Jeff Beck on lead vocal? I am skeptical. But the guitar is........well, undeniable.
Avatar 6:51pm
SF Sorrow:

To add my praise to the chorus; Graham Gouldman wrote some of the best songs of the 60's season! Hello everyone! Hello Sir Orange Peel!
  6:52pm
uptown jen:

I think I’m perfectly in tune with Graham’s songwriting. His songs all have a quality that draws me in.
Avatar 6:52pm
MOM WHIG:

Good to see you SF - Andrew is sick - so OP - great songs
Avatar 6:52pm
MOM WHIG:

Sf is your work day over?
Avatar 6:54pm
SF Sorrow:

You too MW. Hope Andrew feels better soon. OP is a welcome substitute! Work day done except for an oil change on my truck in progress
Avatar 6:55pm
MOM WHIG:

At least good tunes for you
  6:55pm
uptown jen:

I like the Mindbenders later releases. It’s fun to hear the beginnings of Graham’s relationship with Eric Stewart.
Avatar 6:56pm
SF Sorrow:

Indeed.
  6:57pm
Gerry from Miami:

A lot of Peter Noone and the boys today. That song, "East West" was originally a Hermits release written by another of tiday's honorees, Graham Gouldman.
Avatar 6:57pm
MOM WHIG:

Gerry - loving the show today
  7:01pm
Gerry from Miami:

MOM WHIG, me too. Liking the mix. I love Andrew's shows, but he often has 2 or 3-hour showcases of one artist. I like that too, but OP's variety and song choices keeps me riveted to my speakers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm
PaulRobeson1920:

Warm greetings, one & all!

Even Cher took on a Graham Gouldman composition. "Behind the Door" is her brilliant rendition of a superior song.
Avatar 7:09pm
SF Sorrow:

For Your Love, Heart Full Of Soul, and Evil Hearted You are some of the best Yardbird tracks in my opinion!!!
Avatar 7:10pm
MOM WHIG:

SF - I agree on your Yardbird tracks - mine too :) Still have my original 45's of them
  7:12pm
Gerry from Miami:

I would add "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" to that list!
Avatar 7:15pm
WLSClark:

Mom, I kept all of mine too. I put the original sleeves on them too with the little bitty Epic logos. Love those sleeves. I am selling lots of my collection now, but very littel Graham stuff--he's great!
Avatar 7:15pm
SF Sorrow:

Is that a Gouldman composition Gerry? I only included the Gouldman penned songs I know in that list. The Yardbirds never put out a song that I didn't like!
Avatar 7:16pm
MOM WHIG:

I even put the date and time that I bought my 45's on the sleeve
Avatar 7:17pm
SF Sorrow:

Turn into Earth is awesome, and Still I'm Sad as well
  7:21pm
Gerry from Miami:

@SF Sorrow. "Happenings..." is credited to Relf, McCarty, Beck and Page.
Avatar 7:21pm
WLSClark:

Mom, that is great! I keep my memories time wise by my personal surveys I made of records weekly back then.
Avatar 7:22pm
Orange Peel:

Thanks everyone - I will be back with some Donovan at the top of the hour!
  7:22pm
David in California:

Was that Stanley Holloway singing on The World Is For The Young?
Avatar 7:24pm
SF Sorrow:

Where'd you go OP? It ain't 8:00 EST yet
Avatar 7:25pm
sw2442:

Great job subbing for Andrew...the Big Boss should be proud...can't wait for more Donovan...
Avatar 8:26pm
WLSClark:

I guess he's not coming back because the replay is still going.
