Alicia Svigals was a founding member of the Klezmatics and is the preeminent fiddler of the klezmer revival. She leads her own ensemble centered on fiddle and tsimbl (a tabletop string instrument similar to dulcimer or cimbalom) and is also a member of the all-star all-womens’ klezmer and Yiddish music ensemble Mikveh. Joining her to chat and play a few songs live in the studio are Pete Rushefsky, one of the few American virtuosos of the tsimbl and fourth generation klezmer Susan Watts Hoffman, trumpeter with Mikveh.

Alicia’s solo cd Fidl as well as Mikveh’s self-titled cd are on the Traditional Crossroads label.

Alicia will be performing in two separate sets, first with her own quartet (and perhaps a few special guests) and second with Mikveh at Satalla, 37 W 26 St NYC Sunday Feb 15 starting at 7pm.
