It's not always good for me, but as someone of predominantly Finnish ancestry, being a coffee addict is sort of a given (My late mother got me started when I was in 5th grade, so I could be awake to see my father before he headed off to the office before everyone else got there) - IMO, it's still a lot better than the other vice that is common among Nordic folk - high alcohol consumption.

Coffee was giving me heart palpitations for a while so I stopped, I tried to pick it back up to help when I pulled all nighters to get me back into a normal sleep routine but the caffeine would fog up my mind and make me do regrettable things, I later learned it aggravated my O.C.D.

Bri i think i started drinking coffee in the 4th grade too.
we didn't have snacks or sweets in the house, generally (and when we did it was tightly controlled)
however the sugar bowl was always there and apparently not monitored. however it came about i don't know but we were allowed to have as much coffee as we wanted.(unfortunately instant but i didn't know any different) so
a heaping teaspoon coffee, 2-3 heaping spoons of sugar and lots of milk was my candy. by 6th grade i had 4-5 cups/day.

i don’t remember drinking coffee until college. my dad drank coffee but he was leaving for work usually when i was getting up and my mom drank tea, despite the genetics it took me a long time to like tea (unless it was iced)

I never really drove a tractor but I did drive a dump truck for a few years as a young adult. Ran a jackhammer for a short while but it beat the heck out of me.

Bri...don't go writing novels! ;) Just saying...you can't be sure of that. Well...it depends on how strongly he reacted...I guess.

Labor Ready expected me to run a tamper for minimum wage. I was in Colorado around 1995. I tried. God bless all the strong men and women that operate jackhammers!!

@coel: I started to drink coffee in the 2nd grade at church. By grad school, I was up to 2-3 pots a day (I had to quite, it was destroying my GI tract)

and another show comes to its end. as always thank you for listening. next week john schnall returns with midnight matinee: byrne after reading, and john will once again be joining the chat; the opportunity to groan at bad puns presents itself like a peacock in an exquisite dream of an alley, the kind of alley you always hope to find yourself in, where a myriad of possibilities lie strewn just waiting for you, yes you!, to pick one up and discover the great meaning of your life, your purpose, your reason for being. though why does there need to be a reason for being? i mean we know the reason for being (thanks mom and dad and the little spark that set them off) but why do we always want it to be more than it is? like there’s some grand purpose to every single person who has ever lived’s life, and there is, but it’s not as many people would define a grand purpose, it’s not to stand out from the crowd, it’s to be part of the crowd, to become part of the scrum, to help if necessary, to hinder if necessary, to follow as many paths as you can during the allotted time, to enjoy life and what it offers and, if the opportunity presents itself, help others realize the same
