Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from April 9, 2021 Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm

I have this fantastic interview with her that no one's seen. I bought a VHS tape from a collector's estate sale and he apparently interviewed her in the late 80s. It's really good but the sound quality needs serious work.

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Rich in Washington:

We had a Commodore 64 at my work and it was in service for many years. It had some special electrical pulse sequencing on it that no one cared to replicate in modern machinery. I think they finally retired it when we got new software engineers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Rich in Washington:

I've had the same job for far too long. I'm like an old Commodore 64.
Avatar 10:43pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

As an original C64, it had the classic fault that the power supply overheated over time (due to Commodore deliberately sealing the thing up with so much extra material to attempt to make it hard to take apart and build a third-party replacement), which led over time to improper power that caused problems to the video chip. It took longer and longer to power up after a while. And during the problem, if I was playing a game using a bitmap, the bitmap would gradually fill up with extra pixels, which would usually alter the gameplay (i.e. if I was playing Randy Glover's Jumpman (from Epyx), those little dots would act as tiny platforms, which could help but more often hurt.
Avatar 10:45pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The C64 has been mostly relegated to prop I pull out when we're writing BASIC programs in the CCS64 emulator, so those of us who haven't already memorized the different keyboard layout know which keys to press (i.e. shift-2 for a double quote)
