Danny -- My American angle and shot at the dingo & baby biz origin: True tale of the Aussie child lost on camping trip, parents claimed snatched and eaten by dingo; authorities charged them with murder in sensational case, but evidence later supported the dingo story; Meryl Streep played the mother in a movie and from her accented portrayal -- helped somewhat by a Seinfeld riff on it --- "the dingo ate my baby" became a catch-line in US, don't know if familiar in same context elsewhere, and don't recall if real mother or Streep actually uttered that particular line or it was handy for the EZ mock.
