@ drowsy: Felt my body temperature increase w/ no fever. Was in bed for most of the day. Funny enough, after the vaccine we went out for a pizza. I had a vodka cocktail & some great tiramisu afterwards. Today wasn't so chipper. The arm hurts a little. That will pass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm

@luka: I hear you. Gave up on my Bob Mould show that was supposed to happen in March of last year and was rescheduled in November. That didn't happen, either. Oh, well...

Remember seeing them on the 80's 1 season classic Square Pegs.

This 2nd shot was not as awful as we were fearing. I could work today while @paparay was napping. I had worse reaction after the first one

@ loveless: I remember the DEVO episode. There was talk for a slew of acts for the 2nd season. I remember A Flock Of Seagulls & Rita Marley were on the list. I would've been ecstatic. There's an article online about why the series didn't get renewed.

This was the first song by them I really liked. That intro blows me away. The sound of tap dancing feet. Or just feet walking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
DjLorraine:

Patrick321 She is so popular...is not the lyrics either 😅
  9:54pm

This 12" is a French promo that was issued because of Reality Bites soundtrack from 1994. Of course this came out in the 70's on Capitol Records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm

My Sharona was a jukebox smash in the campground of my 70s youth. Under a grand tent with pinball. Where we all went when it rained.

It was big in France

Wow - just had to look up in a search to remind myself when Robert Palmer passed - will be 18 years already this September... I can remember first hearing the news from a local radio talk show host on KIRO in Seattle, but had forgotten it's been that long.

paparay:

Good ole Stiv taking on a Madonna classic.
  10:08pm
PJ:

I gotta tell you, Ray, I was a little down tonight, but I turned on the radio, not expecting anything, and I heard the tail end of Games Without Frontiers, then Since You're Gone, and then My Sharona, and my spirits could not help but be lifted. Thanks.
Avatar 10:08pm

hah! yes Stiv as Madonna, right down to those black lace tights (yep, i still have this 12" w/pic sleeve)
  10:09pm

@ PJ: Glad I am able to lift your spirits.
  10:10pm
Hartwell:

i keep gradually turning up volume on kitchen radio. Robert Palmer sounded amazing
  10:12pm
paparay:

@ slugluv1313: Stiv shared with us a bit too much on the back of that sleeve. They would play the Madonna video at Private Eyes but play TLOTNC version as the audio. It would synch perfectly.
  10:14pm

Did someone say MINISTRY??????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm

Dj Ray Boogie i much appreciated your conversations with DJ Tom Dash. A proper thank you to you both.

@Mod Mokka Matti: AGREED. He needs to embrace his With Sympathy era. It put him on the path where he is. I'm sure you heard about the jingle he wrote in the 80's.
Avatar 10:21pm
Mod Mokka Matti:

@paparay: I'm not sure I was even aware that he wrote a jingle - what would that have been for? Care to elaborate?
  10:22pm

hahaha i like that you clarified "pre-Under the Milky Way," as if that was all they played :D

Always seemed strange that Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show got famous with Cover of the Rolling Stone, which seemed to paint them as loose, amiably scruffy rockers/stoners, then went on -- as just Dr. Hook -- to make such lite 'n tidy pop hits of conventional sentiment.

@paparay: I think there are things about the modern world that most of us feel, but at a low level, like an almost inaudible hum, something moving just at the periphery of our vision, that artists like Cronenberg, JG Ballard, PK Dick, etc., amplify and make visible so that we have to face them. Doesn’t mean we have solutions, but it’s better to face them than not.

Hi paparay and undergrounders!
  11:33pm
paparay:

@johnk77: I attended several shows and events. One of the best was the launch party for Reggae: The Rough Guide book. Loads of famous reggae luminaires that evening. Even the great Coxsone Dodd was there. I had a chance to meet him for a few seconds. One night I also met Sly Dunbar there. Cool guy.

@ chresti: Greetings!

Special 12" REMIX issued in the 80's. I like to buy 12" singles w/ the original version. I popped this one on as a bit of a gag. It's not that bad. Works right after Pop Muzik by M.
