Someone - P-90 ? - on some Comments board laid out the details of the turning point in Fuzz Boxes I've often observed. The early ones cut your sustain & were snotty. The later ones added sustain & made the tome kinda fatter... Hendrix he noted illustrates the transition specifically...

Eric R: Two things up front ? : In the 1960s, the commercial mainstream & the underground were having moment with each other. Now - Music Distribution has experienced 1st a Coporate acquisition takeover - & then the online digital revolution. Completely different from the industry boom of the 1960s & 70s .
Secondly - the 1960s were a flood of firsts & wild discoveries... There's masses of great stuff now - but it swims against these streams...
