Drove from Denver to Minneapolis one winter in whiteout conditions. They never closed the highway, which told us that, almost inconceivably, it could be worse. I recommend staying home & listening to WFMU.

there's a section of I-70 in western Kansas that closes at least once a year due to snow... but you gotta figure the standard for closure gets higher every year
  Swag For Life Member 9:14pm

Thinking more about it, the drive may not have started in Denver or ended in Minneapolis. Then again, we couldn't see, so maybe it did.

“Staying home and listening to WFMU” has been a recurring theme the past year. It’s a good, multi-purpose option.

@glenn @Little Danny: It's only been recently that "It's Only a Northern Song" went from being one of my least favorite Beatles tracks to one of my favorites. You'd think those opinions would be set in granite by now.

Only a Northern Song was in YellowSub movie - so good with me from childhood ! George wrote it early '67 & submitted it for Sgt. Pepper - & George Martin told him to try harder !... NorthernSongs was the John/Paul publishing co. - so a bit if bitterness from Harrison - using transcendental cosmic terminology...

Ken, if you mean the day a British bloke plants a Union Jack at Botany Bay & steals a country from it's actual inhabitants of 60,000 years? I don't really celebrate it mate. Federation is when we became a nation, and not until 1967, where Indigenous Australians counted as citizens & able to vote. I was born & counted as Australian 3 months before they were. Something I will never forget. Sorry for the heavy response mate, it just was a heavy day for some here. 😊

Well Magical Mystery Tour wasn't even an Album in the UK - but a double E.P. StrawberryFields / PennyLane was the single before Pepper - same sessions basically - & All You Need Is Love the single right after Pepper same month (June). So - the Singles that framed Pepper (if Pepper be critiqued as all Production & no Song, consider that...) YellowSub Beatle trax mostly leftovers from Pepper sessions too... since they weren't actually in the cartoon & didn't have much to do with it... Like here have these trax...So if you put MMT & YellowSub soundtrack together we get like Vol.2 of Psychedelic '67 to Pepper's Vol. 1. Yeah.
I like to call late 1967 the 'Winter of Love' - & not just for TheBeatles...

Red Gum sure can take out a house. We just had a horrendous rain and wind storm this weekend and I'm sure it wreaked havoc on them. The jacarandas were getting uprooted.
On the beatles, there's no particularly good reason to clown on their music, but it's kind of silly to, like, know what toilet paper they were using between sets in Hamburg.
Avatar 11:37pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...MMT just a Made for TV thing anyhow - & if you've got 'I Am the Walrus' - I'm sold! That's not really like what's on Pepper - but between it & Lennon as sharp & convoluted as he is on the White Album... Well enuff sorry.
