Yes. WFMU is owned and operated by Auricle Communications which is a tax exempt organization recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Any donation made to WFMU is tax deductible, less the amount of any goodies you receive in exchange for your pledge. The IRS does not require a receipt except for donations of $250 or more, in which case WFMU will mail you a receipt next January, or earlier if you request it.
Here are the names of the different types of pledges, and how the money from each type is used by WFMU and JM in the AM. (We will honor any special request regarding which fund to put your donation into.)
A Basic Pledge is any pledge from $18 to $359 and is used for JM in the AM's basic operations - keeping the lights and the transmitter on, for example.
A Mouse of Today Pledge is any pledge $360 or higher and is used to develop our online presence and maintain JM in the AM's live streaming, archives and all the infrastructure that goes into these activities.
A Future Fund Pledge is any pledge $1000 or higher and is used to fund long-term station-wide infrastructure projects including transmitter projects, maintenance and technical upgrades to our equipment and facilities, and to help us pay down the mortage on our building. These investments have been key to JM in the AM's survival during difficult financial periods, and have provided WFMU with an ever-important stake in our own stability.
Filling out the Insta-Pledge box will take you to a more detailed page where you fill out additional information and choose the gifts you want.
When you make an online pledge to JM in the AM, you will immediately receive an acknowledgement via e-mail, and after that, an actual human being at WFMU will examine your pledge and will contact you if any more information is needed.
WFMU uses a secure webserver, so you can pledge with a credit card right from the pledge form just as you would to buy stuff elsewhere on the Internet.
If you paid your online pledge with a credit card, that's all you need to do. But if you did not submit payment, no problem! In a few days, we will e-mail you with a secure link to pay your pledge online.
If you would like to pay your pledge via PayPal, then the pledge receipt you see after submitting your pledge will direct you to a PayPal page on which you can make your payment to WFMU (PayPal's Bill Me Later service is not recommended). If you don't have a PayPal account, and you choose the PayPal option for payment, then you will be prompted to enter a secure credit card payment to WFMU. (But if you don't have a PayPal account, it is easier for us if you simply make a credit card payment on the JM in the AM pledge page.)
How do I add a pledge banner to my own site?
You can copy some html code from this page and paste it into your site.
How do I add the pledge banner to Wordpress and Blogger?
If you are using Wordpress we reccomend installing the Raw Html Plugin. Once installed you can place the banner code in between raw tags: [RAW] ... [/RAW].
In Tumblr, choose the video post option and paste in our Insta-Pledge code.
On Blogger, you should be able to paste in our iFrame code using HTML mode.
- You can pledge online from this very page.
- You can use the 2014 Year-End Silent Campaign brochure which was mailed to everyone on our mailing list.
- You can mail a check made out to "WFMU" to PO Box 2011, Jersey City, NJ 07303-2011.
You can pay your pledge by check or money order made out to "WFMU," or by credit card or PayPal. We prefer checks (U.S. only), but WFMU also accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. If you don't pay your pledge right away, we will e-mail you with a secure link to pay your pledge online a few days after you pledge, and if we don't hear from you, we'll send a payment form to you in the mail (you can mail a check or the credit card info back to us in a pre-posted envelope which we will supply). Our website is secure, so you can safely input your credit card information onto our pledge page.
We also offer PayPal as a payment option for listeners who have a PayPal account. If you choose the PayPal option, then after you submit your pledge, you will receive a link to a PayPal page on which you can send your payment to WFMU. PayPal's Bill Me Later service is not recommended.
Many listeners prefer to pay their pledges, especially larger pledges, in monthly installments or credit card charges. We are able to accomodate this request for pledges of $120 and higher. If you prefer to pay your pledge by installment, please indicate this in writing when you make your first payment, or check the appropriate payment option on the pledge page.
We will e-mail you with a secure link to pay your pledge online either during or just after the Marathon. If you are unable to pay, we will send you a follow-up payment form in the mail, and we will hold on to any prizes you may have won for 10 months. If you still cannot pay, you can request that we charge your credit card at any later date which you specify.
Please e-mail our Listener Services Director Joe or call him at 201-521-1416, ext 229.
