Transpacific Sound Paradise
Saturday, March 10, 2001

Click here to hear this show starting Tuesday, March 13.

Saxophonist Patrick Brennan, better known in jazz and improv circles than in the "world music" milieu, talks about his travels to Morocco and collaboration with Moroccan Gnawa musician Najib Sudani and friends that resulted in the collaborative recording project Sudani. Brennan follows in the footsteps of a range of artists from Jim Hendrix to Brian Jones to Talvin Singh to Randy Weston, Ornette Coleman and even the Klezmatics in making this musical journey to play with Gnawa musicians, but he feels his take on it is unique. Do you agree?
