In Griot Time: A Visit With Banning Eyre

Banning Eyre, writer and guitarist, is the author of In Griot Time: An American Guitarist in Mali (Temple University Press). Banning talks about his self-styled six month residency with guitarist Djelemady Tounkara of the Super Rail Band in Bamako, Mali, where he learned about music and culture and met many of the major figures in Malian popular music. During the second hour of the show, Banning demonstrates a bit of what he learned on the guitar.
