>In Memory of Jeff Buckley

(who recently drowned in the Wolf River, which leads into the Mississippi just outside Memphis)

An excerpt of the first (of many a) live performance on WFMU's Music Faucet, hosted by Nicholas Hill: 11/10/91
Jeff Buckley (voice, musical effects) and Gary Lucas (guitar)

"Mojo Pin"
--->interview segment
"Hymn to Love"
"Grace"

As engineer for many of these shows, I heard indescribable magic the first time these two played-- Gary, with his amazing guitar mastery, and Jeff, the perfect compliment with his beautiful voice. Jeff went on to develop as a fine solo performer and bandleader. But in many ways that first radio broadcast is how I'll remember him-- charming, quick with a funny comment or three, a touch of mysterious reserve and superbly talented. We'll all miss you Jeff!
