Live performance by Chris Cunningham (guitar), with Michelle Kinney (cello)& Joe Mendelssohn (bass)

The distinctive sound of Chris Cunningham's jaw-droppingly amazing guitar playing might sound familiar to the longtime WFMU listening audience. He's been a frequent guest over the years on Nicholas Hill's long departed Live Music Faucet show, and you may recognize him as the guitarist for Susan McKeown and the Chanting House. (A lovely track of theirs appears on WFMU's live music compilation, "Upsalapalooza".) Many of you are also familiar with Chris' guitar artistry with Boukman Eksperyans, Saqqara Dogs, Marianne Faithfull, Katell Keineg, Gavin Friday, Trey Gunn, The Golden Palominos, Lori Carson, The Contortions, Richard Julian, Hal Willner, and The Lounge Lizards, amongst others. Cunningham was joined in this live set by his wife, Chris' equal as an amazingly talented cellist, Michelle Kinney (who also was in The Chanting House), and by Joe Mendelssohn, who besides being a fine bassist, is the owner of The Living Room , a comfortable music venue in Lower Manhattan.

"Stories to Play," Chris Cunningham's first solo album, is available through Lunchbox Recordings (P.O.Box 369 Ansonia Station, NY NY 10023)
