An accomplished singer, pianist and vaudeville trouper, she was one of the first TV stars, following her debut in 1937 on NBC. She quickly became an international cabaret celebrity. Hildegarde was featured in the June 1998 issue of Vanity Fair along with other legendary cabaret performers.
